Who We are

The Louisiana SPCA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that was created in 1888 to address the mistreatment of horses and mules in New Orleans. More than 130 years later we are the oldest and largest animal welfare organization in the state. Our comprehensive programs and services also make us a go to resource for pet parents and animal advocates across the state and the Gulf Coast.

Our mission is to promote, protect and advance the well-being of Louisiana’s companion animals.

Chartered in 1888

Equal Employment Opportunity Statement

We are committed to equal opportunity employment! We will not tolerate discrimination against employees on any legally recognized basis including, but not limited to: sex, race, age, color, creed, religion, pregnancy, gender or sexual orientation, marital status, disability, military or veteran status or any other status protected by the law.

Criminal History

Our talent team will conduct interviews of qualified individuals prior to requesting a criminal background check, and no job application submitted prior to such interview shall inquire into an applicant’s criminal history. If this position is subject to a background check for any convictions related to its responsibilities and requirements, employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation including criminal history. Criminal history will not automatically disqualify a candidate.

In Louisiana, our pets are a part of our culture as much as anything else. And for more than 130 years, the Louisiana SPCA has been an advocate for all our furry friends across the state. Follow our Lead and show the characters of Louisiana you care by supporting the Louisiana SPCA.

The Louisiana SPCA helped more than 3,000 animals find their forever home in 2020.
